Expertise:

Bill is an experienced litigator who has handled a number of complex and protracted jury trials. Bill has significant experience counseling clients regarding day to day business and employment issues. His trial work includes the successful defense of a law school against allegations of age discrimination, a prominent and upscale restaurant in a case alleging disability discrimination, and a security company faced with allegations of race and national origin discrimination.

Bill has handled countless other jury, non-jury and administrative trials and hearings in respect to all aspects of the employment relationship. He has appeared before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Ohio Personnel Board of Review, the Ohio Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, the Ohio Industrial Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout Ohio.

Bill frequently writes and speaks on topics of interest to the business community. His lectures have addressed such subjects as the employer’s obligation in respect to leave for military service, the defense of lawsuits alleging wrongful termination, and the interrelationship of the Americans with Disabilities Act with the Family and Medical Leave Act and workers’ compensation laws

Bill is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Committee and the Defense Research Institute (DRI).

Education

Bill is a cum laude graduate of Providence College, class of 1990, with a degree in Business Administration. He is a top 25% graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law, class of 1993, where he received the American Jurisprudence Award as the top student in his Labor Law class.

Community Service

Bill is the past Treasurer and continues to serve the Board of Trustees of Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare, Inc.  He also serves on the Board of the St. Charles Preparatory Alumni Association and the St. Agatha Athletic Association. He is a former member of the Diocesan Schools Advisory Counsel.  Bill is also an active youth coach in both soccer and baseball.

Personal

Bill and his wife, Manderley, have two children are active members of St. Agatha Parish. Bill enjoys playing golf, church league softball and competitive tennis. Bill and his family also enjoy traveling.
